The story of Hong Leong Group is a manifestation of the Power of Vision. The Vision of one man, the Executive Chairman Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan, was the seed of the foundation of the Group. That Vision is now manifested and entrenched in the Group's culture and values, which the Group continues to practise and strive for.

From its humble beginnings as a trading company in 1963, one man's vision and his untiring efforts and passion, Hong Leong Group today comprises of 14 listed companies in various stock exchanges around the world with a total market capitalisation circa USD 12 billion.

   
 
The growth years ... Built Upon the Strength of the Nation

Since its early years as a Malaysian based organisation, the Group firmly believed in embedding itself in the country and community within which it operated and strived to contribute towards the building of a prosperous and progressive nation through the identification of the nation's industrialisation needs.

Hong Leong Group had grown in tandem with the growth of the nation through entrepreneurship, investment foresight and innovation to its present size and position, with core businesses in a diverse range of industries, firmly rooted in key sectors.

In line with his aspirations and foresight, the Group adopted its first tagline - Built Upon the Strength of the Nation. At the same time, the Group also adopted the Golden Dragon as its logo - a symbol of strength, vigilance and good fortune. In tandem with the nation's rapid development and growth in the early sixties and through the seventies, the Group embarked on its investments and reaped tremendous success and growth.

   
 
Embracing the future ... Reaching Out to You

As the Group continued to expand beyond its Malaysian base to seek opportunities globally, it recognised the power of the customers to stay resilient and to sustain in global competition. Hence, the Group adopted its current tagline - Reaching Out to You.

In further efforts to contemporaries its image while maintaining the traditional character and culture of the legendary dragon, Hong Leong Group redesigned its Golden Dragon logo using bold lines and incorporating contemporary colours of blue and red.

   
 
Built on a Firm Foundation of Values
Values had always been the central focus throughout the history of the Group. The Group believes that strong Corporate Culture, like family values, is the basis, the future and the framework of all things. Pride in contribution, dignity in conduct, self-esteem in devotion - these exemplify the basic Corporate Culture of the Group.
