HONG LEONG FOUNDATION
Having adopted the tagline ‘Tomorrow's Generation' , Hong Leong Foundation champions causes in aid of Children and Youth, to provide for their needs in the areas of education, welfare, health and sports. To reaffirm its commitment to reach out to the local community, the Foundation has a budget of RM 2.5 million each year, distributed through a two-pronged approach; Committees in each of the Group's 9 regions makes grants to local community groups, while a national effort supports education and charity.

- EDUCATION
Scholarship Programme
To help bright students gain access to higher education, Hong Leong Foundation awards scholarships for Diploma and Undergraduate studies at local universities and selected institutions of higher learning (3+0 Twinning Programme). The value of the scholarships ranges from RM5,000 to RM20,000 per academic year. This award is not a loan and it does not have to be repaid, nor are holders bonded to serve the Group upon graduation.
Each year the Foundation commits approximately RM1 Million towards education. To be eligible, applicants had to excel academically, display outstanding leadership qualities, matched by notable participation in extra curricular activities.
Selected fields of studies are Accounting, Business Studies, Finance & Management, Law, Science, Applied Science, IT, Actuarial Science, Computer Science & Creative Multimedia, Hotel Management and Engineering.
Since adopting ‘ Tomorrow's Generation' as its tagline, award recipients will also be given the opportunity to undergo industrial training to gain related work experience at relevant Group subsidiary companies. They will also get the chance to build their career with the Group. Through this holistic approach, the Foundation also strives to nurture the development of ‘ Tomorrow's Generation' into a fine group of exemplary Malaysians, who in turn will leave their mark in the community.

To date, the Group has disbursed more than RM10 million to over 540 recipients.
Student Assistance Programme
Launched in 1998, this project was initiated with the aim to address the immediate needs of primary and secondary school children from low-income families. Administered by the Group's 9 Regional Management Committees, the Foundation has donated items such as school bags, books, uniforms, bicycles as well as school and examination fee subsidies to thousands of school children nationwide.
- CHARITY With an annual pledge of RM1 Million towards charity, the Foundation supports the efforts of various welfare organisations devoted to helping the underprivileged and unfortunate. Since 2000, the Group has distributed cash donations to more than 45 beneficiaries each year throughout the country. As part of the Group's embedment and entrenchment efforts within their local community, employees regularly participate in community services in their respective regions, organising visits to orphanages and welfare homes, blood donation campaigns, as well as initiating and participating in projects involving environmental and social issues.
- AD HOC DONATIONS
In addition, the Group supports and responds positively to various appeals, having set aside emergency funds for natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, etc. Victims of the December 26 th tsunami received RM1.5 million from the Foundation to help them rebuild their lives.
